Time to Leave the Nest

It's time now to leave the nest,
To go and freely fly on your own,
To fly high and long and wide, and
To explore the new horizon.

You now have strong wings,
The one you got from those
Who left an older nest long ago,
And to make their own, like you.

It's time for joy and also for pain,
You must leave and fly to new vistas,
And exult at the newfound freedom,
And leave some behind to feel the pain.

The tradition is old, will continue,
Old nests will always be empty,
And the new will have to come up,
An endless cycle of old and new.

But it doesn't have to be cheerless,
It's a time to reflect what the old gave,
And what's in store for the new hopefuls,
It's time to see happiness all around.

It's the fulfillment of the old vows,
It's satisfaction of a job well done,
And hopes in the vows just taken,
A whole new world opening up.

With love and blessings
From Nana-Nani and the big family
On the wedding of
Tamanna and Khushal [October 23,2010]
